SBT GRVL p/b Wahoo Fitness Announces Expanded Exhibit, Panels, Rides and Partnership with Outside Chef Biju Thomas

Four days of activities from Thursday to Sunday race day

Steamboat Springs, Colo.SBT GRVL p/b Wahoo Fitness has announced an expanded two-day 2022 Expo, with more space for additional vendors, more rides, pro and parity panels and a new partnership with Outside Chef Biju Thomas for Sunday’s post-race party.

“After all the positive feedback from Expo and activities last year, we wanted to find other ways to improve the overall event experience for 2022,” said Micah Rice, Director of the SBT GRVL race. “We know SBT GRVL riders tend to come early for the event, so we’re excited to have more to offer across the board for this year.”

Extended exhibition

The SBT GRVL exhibition is changing to two days, taking place on Friday, August 12 from 3-7 p.m. and continuing on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will occupy Yampa Street, which runs from 9th to 12th Street, with 130 stalls in total in 10×10 or 20×20 configurations. Visitors can expect to find booths with event sponsors as well as many other bike companies, equipment suppliers and other cycling-related artisans/women.

Beyond the booths, the Expo will host a variety of fun and interactive activities. One of the standout moments of the 2021 event returns Friday at 3 p.m. with the Ride For Racial Justice panel, and the opportunity to meet this year’s 26 athletes plus co-founders Marcus Robinson and Neal Henderson. Package pickup will be available from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On Saturday, parcel pick-up begins at 9:00 a.m. The day will be filled with a children’s Strider run, yoga, band, pro athlete signings at sponsor booths, parity and pro panels and concludes with the athletes meeting at 2 p.m. Later in the afternoon, Ride For Racial Justice will be hosting a happy hour and raffling off prizes, including a bike.

More Shakeout rides

Applying the N+1 bike ownership rule to trips (more is better), the first shakeout will take place on Thursday at 9 a.m.

Friday will feature four shakeout options:

  • 9 a.m.: SBT VRTL IRL, with 2021 women’s champion Lauren de Crescenzo
  • 9:00 a.m.: MOOTs Ride
  • 11 a.m.: SRAM Women’s Ride
  • 3:45 p.m.: Ride For Racial Justice

Saturday will once again host the now famous Chamois Butt’r Group Ride hosted by Marley Blonsky, which will take place at 8:30am.

New partnership with Outside Chief Biju Thomas

SBT GRVL is delighted to partner with Outside and Chef Biju Thomas, co-author of The Feed Zone Cookbooks, who will oversee the dining experience at Sunday’s post-race party. Biju will work with local vendors to gather great food to showcase the area and create an elevated and unique post-race meal for everyone.

“It started for me a year ago with a late night text from Alex Howes asking how I can come along and make this even more special for everyone riding and racing,” said Biju Thomas. “Of course, I jumped at the chance to help out at one of the best gravel events on the calendar, which is right in my own backyard. I love everything about racing and I love Steamboat. I am thrilled beyond words to share food and stories and our love for all things outdoors.
